During my study I came across a lot of material that, although I found interesting, I was unable to include in my study. Some of this material I felt would still be of use in a in-depth Revelation study so I’ve added a number of Appendixes that I believe could be useful in your study.
This is a summary or survey of the book with only a short paragraph or so for each chapter. It is designed to give you an overall view of the entire book quickly. This survey is very similar to my first study of Revelation.
Since there is a strong similarity between the plagues of Egypt and the three sets of plagues found in Revelation it maybe useful to see them laid out together so they can be easily compared.
A strong theme of Revelation is the use of numbers, colours and animals. There is also list of some of these to give you an idea of their symbolic meanings.
Another characteristic of Revelation is the use of images from other parts of the scriptures to tell its story. While most of these are not direct quotes from their original passages they are easily identified as to where their roots came from. This is a list of many of these images.
There is a very close relationship between parts of Daniel and Revelation, particularly in chapter 17. Here is a short survey of these sections of Daniel.
This appendix also contains background material on the four great empires and their Kings mentioned in Daniel.
The Roman Empire plays a major role in the Revelation story, particularly the Emperors of the 1st century. Here is the list of these Emperors with brief backgrounds on their lives.
Throughout the Revelation story many angels play various roles. Here is a list of these angels and where they appear in the story.
When we get to the last few chapters of Revelation and we read about the 1st death and the 2nd death and the 1st resurrection and the 2nd resurrection we can get very confused. Here is a small self-contained study of this whole area of Death, Resurrection & Eternity.
So what did we learn from our study of Revelation. What practical lessons can be found that we can apply to our lives today? Here is a list of some of them.
